Hi AMurray,

Just a thought but don't you think there should be something in that doc explaining the class "new_row" as well? This class is important, for example, when you want to have 2 fields next to each other in one row and then below that another 2 fields in a row lined up next to each other as well.

@ketzaldev, the feature you mention already exists in Machform; ensure you're using the latest version of Machform (currenlty 4.6); maybe you're on a version without these features (?) however the columns feature has been around since version 3.x (released three years ago).

See the documentation as I posted 3 years ago - http://www.appnitro.com/doc-field-alignment.

For some field types e.g. radio or check box, under the field property/options you can select 1, 2, 3 columns or "inline" to align such options in columns.

If the existing features as menntioned above are not what you're actually after, then please explain what further "columns" features you were expecting, or were wanting to do?

When you say "add columns from front end" do you mean from the public side of the website (showing the form that the user fills in) or from the Administrator section of Machform?

Hi Yuniar,

After 8 years on that issue, could you please let us know what is the roadmap for this? That would be very useful to have this as a new feature, to be able to add columns from front end, not editing CSS each time we'd like to make it?

Thanks a lot in advance
BR
Louis

Lathamkeen - Version 3.2 has the ability to place fields on the same line.....

http://www.appnitro.com/doc-field-alignment

Pretty much with every field type, plus there's a "matrix" field type, consisting of either check boxes or radio buttons that has a neat way of lining up responses as you might see in a long survey.

I'm using MachForm 3.1 and there isn't an edit css possibility in the admin panel. So I thought I should edit main.css? I added these lines at the end of that file:

.li_1{ float: left; width: 35%; clear: both; }
.li_2{ width: 55%; float: left; }
.li_3{ clear: both; }

But it didn't work.

TimHines -- do you mean those are the custom css class name you assigned for those 5 fields?

If so, you need to remove the '#' and change it to dot, like this:

.table_1{ float: left; width: 30% !important; clear: both; }

.table_2{ width: 15% !important; float: left; }

.table_3{ width: 15% !important; float: left; }

.table_4{ width: 20% !important; float: left; }

.table_5{ width: 20% !important; float: left; }

MarcusJ

That's easy with Version 3 - you just set the columns option for those field types (check box, radio button) and it will lay them out next to each other.

In the form editor, click on the field you want (either checkbox/option buttons). From the field properties, choose the appropriate option under "Choice Columns".

You have a choice of 'inline', '1 column', '2 columns', '3 columns'.

marcus, if you select "inline" they will line up.

I tried using this information with Version 3, but I cannot get it to work. I have given custom css names to the 5 fields that I want lined up in the same row, but nothing changes when I use the following code (table_1 through table_5 are the custom names I gave the 5 fields)

#table_1{ float: left; width: 30%; clear: both; }

#table_2{ width: 15%; float: left; }

#table_3{ width: 15%; float: left; }

#table_4{ width: 20%; float: left; }

Hi,

Five years ago this post was made regarding side by side fields on a form:

Awesome, thanks for the tip. Perhaps this functionality could be built into the front end of the next version of Machform? Just a suggestion. Thanks!

Great idea. But I'm afraid it won't be in the next few months. There are lot of other major features I'm currently working on to be added in the next version, which I'm sure you will love it! :-)
_______

Is this going to be done?

Thank you,

You can try changing the container width of the name field, edit this code:

#li_18{
	float: left;
	width: 55%;
	clear: both;
}

try change it to become:

#li_18{
	float: left;
	width: 37%;
	clear: both;
}

I think that should reduce the large space between those name and relationship field.

also... as long as i might get an answer... i would like add a label below the "relationship" field just like the labels under the name field (first, last) so it will blend in with the look of the "line". of course i can do this with html, but since this is being generated on the fly... i don't know. i do know how to remove the bold label above the field... :] the instructions worked perfectly for lining up the email and phone number fields (at the bottom of he form). thanks for any responses and help!

i am trying to add a field next to a "name" field. the name field has two parts, first name and last name as generated by the machform generator. in my case, the name field id is li="18" - the first name id is li="18_1" and the last name id is li="18_2". i am trying to move a field called "relationship" to the same line with the same spacing as between the the first and last name fields. following the directions in the forum, i have the "relationship" field on the same line (using the id - li="18" only) but with way too much space between it and the name fields. none of the fixes in the forum for this problem work as i guess that having the 2 name fields with their corresponding sub id's can't be adjusted the same way regular field can. does anyone have a possible fix?

my form is here... http://bigdogsatellitepocatello.com/machform/view.php?id=1
