I think it will be a good idea to separate the admin folder and user accessible forms/folders. This will create extra protection for the admin scripts. Besides, it will be also helpful if the login can have captcha function to add further protection. This will stop someone writing a script to guess the admin password.

Add to Yuniar's reply, if you need it to be secure, would also suggest you purchase an SSL certificate (your host can arrange that), so your URL will begin with the https:// 128/256 bit encryption (depending on which type of security certificate you purchase for your domain),

If you are trying to protect machform folder using htaccess protection, this will affect all your forms as well. I suggest to simply use a very strong password for your MachForm.

Thank You for your reply Saghalie :) what I mean is sometimes host companies allow you to add some extra security to your website by allowing you to password protect your directory, for example if the admin directory for a website was

www.example.com/admin the administratior would go and manage the website through there but to make it harder for the ip would allow you to add extra security

the only problem is when I do that for my machform directory

www.example.com/machform-admin it affects the forms and all the forms requrie a password lol

I was wondering if there were to be a more specific directory to (extra) password protect my administration for machform

Thank You for your help

hmmm, need a little more info. What exactly did you secure and with what commands? Are you using LINUX or windows or some other OS?

AFAIK - your ./Data dir should be set to writable by the webserver.

Regards,

I tried to secure my admin directory, but it affects all the forms, is there anyway I can get around that?
