Add tax to Cash/Check orders

    I currently have a payment form where I am allowing only cash or check. I still need to add Tax to the total, however, the "Add Sales Tax" checkbox is no longer an option. How can I do this, or is there a quick fix around this issue?

    After upgrading to 4.8, I see that this still is not an available feature. Is this in the plans to be an available option? It would seem that, since the functionality already exists, adding this feature should not require any extensive coding – I hope...
