[Feature Request] Inventory control

It would be incredibly useful, when using Machform to build a shopping cart, to be able to add an inventory level for physical products. On the admin side, one would add the initial stock level and each order would decrement this value appropriately. Once the stock level dropped below a user-defined value, an email would be sent to a user-defined admin address warning to reorder the particular product. Once the product stock level reached zero, the end user would be warned the item was out of stock and prevented from ordering the product. It could also include the option for the end user to be emailed when the item was available again.

On the admin side, it would also be nice to be able to build a report indicating the current stock levels of the entire inventory.

I can think of one workaround, but it would involve one form for each product effectively - and OK for a few products but not intended to be for large number of products - a full e-commerce solution would be better for that.

Initially and in a basic operation of this idea, you could use the "number of entries" limit setting. Set it to say, 1000 representing the 1000 items in stock of that product.

Using this method you can also include and show on the form the "number of items remaining".

When the limit is reached, the form is automatically disabled, such as showing an Out of Stock notice.

That is the first part of what your question asks. The remaining part about the reporting would be more difficult.
