   Is it possible to use MachForms to "talk" to a different database? For example, I'd like to create an easy way to interface with my product database on my ecommerce website. This way I can easily create new "views" of my data and perhaps even update from here.

   Machform can use any database you specify it to use in the config.php, but no, I don't think it would be easily integrate into another application if that is what you're asking.

   It uses its own database structure, in terms of database tables, fields, etc and therefore couldn't really work with another application unless you really know what you're doing with the MySQL and PHP coding.

   **Edit** In other words I mean that Machform works with its owns to work with its own database structure, and wouldn't be able to another applications database (such as an eCommerce application). An eCommerce application would have its own editing / updating system through its built-in content management system.
