resort multiple choice options

Is there a way to re-sort multiple choice options? We have a few people who created forms with a bunch of options under a multiple choice dropdown and they were not in the correct order (we typically want them to be in alphabetical order....)

Since we have already received a bunch of entries on these forms and cannot risk losing data, is there a built-in way to resort the options without losing anything?

Whatever changes you make to the drop-down list affects existing data. If you delete a choice, and someone has chosen that, then it is gone. If you rename a choice, whatever was previously selected is now renamed.

Here is what I would try (you might want to try this on a dummy form first with some sample data) -

    1. Prevent any new entries by disabling the form.
    2. Export the table.
    3. Change the form choices.
    4. Use an update query to restore the data which got changed in step 3
    5. Check your work
    6. Re-enable the form.
